28th June 2018 | The Practice, Information
Several of our team at the practice have benefitted by attending some in-house training about living with dementia. We hope that, just as with any other disabilities, we are both aware and tolerant of dementia and how it affects one in fourteen people +65 years of age. It seemed sensible that when we were contacted by Dementia Friends recently about the extensive campaigning to raise awareness within local businesses in the Uppermill area (where we have a branch practice of course) that we should get more information. It transpired that several of our team at Ian McConnell’s have has some experience with living with or caring for family or friends living with dementia and the small changes that need to be made to practice surroundings to make them less of an obstacle for some are easily done and can make a real difference. If dementia affects any of our clients, please be reassured that many of our vets, nurses and customer-care team are hopefully able to be supportive where necessary.
