With the (welcome) news that the weather will be improving over the next few days, plus we are now in the middle of Rabbit Awareness Week, our vet team would like to remind all rabbit owners of the, often deadly, dangers of flystrike. With sudden increases in temperature, it’s important to check your pet rabbit at least 2 or 3 times every day, particularly looking for flystrike signs such as wet bottom or clumped droppings. Using a preventative product such as RearGuard can help. There is more information here http://www.mypetonline.co.uk/pet-health/treating-your-rabbit-parasites. We have contacted all clients with rabbits whom we have seen at the practice within the past two years – look out for a card arriving through your letterbox in the next couple of days – to offer a FREE check with our nurses. Sadly, this week we have seen the first fatality of flystrike at the practice.
